Course authoring in Learnivo
Build courses once, structure them clearly, and keep them accurate — with drag-and-drop authoring, eleven lesson formats, version history and an editorial review workflow that stops unfinished content reaching learners.
Eleven lesson types
Video, article, quiz, assignment, SCORM, xAPI, cmi5, H5P interactive activities, interactive video with embedded knowledge-check questions, branching scenarios, live sessions and audio episodes with podcast feeds.
How it works
- Structure — create a course, add modules and lessons, drag them into order.
- Author — write articles with the rich editor, embed video, upload documents and media to the library, build quizzes from question banks, add interactive or scenario lessons.
- Review — submit drafts to editorial review (draft → review → publish); approvers publish or reject with a reason, and every change is versioned so you can see and restore history.
- Reuse — save approved content as reusable content blocks linked across lessons (edit the block, update every lesson), clone courses from templates, or import courses from LinkedIn Learning, Udemy Business or Coursera.
- Keep it fresh — set content review dates so stale lessons get flagged for a reviewer.
An AI authoring copilot Beta can draft lesson content to your brief — on every plan, including Free — but nothing AI-drafted publishes without a human author reviewing and approving it.
Plan availability
- Drag-and-drop authoring, the four core lesson types (video, article, quiz, assignment), media library, audio lessons — every plan, including Free
- Course versioning, templates, editorial review workflow, reusable content blocks, interactive video, H5P, branching scenarios, external course imports — Pro plans and above
- Published courses — 3 on Free, 100 on Pro, 500 on Max, unlimited on Enterprise
Honest limits
External imports bring in the content a provider exposes; deep completion tracking from third-party platforms depends on what that provider reports. The AI copilot is Beta — it drafts, humans decide.
Questions people ask
Can non-designers build decent courses?
Yes — article, quiz and video lessons are structured forms rather than free-form page design, so content quality comes from the writing, not layout skills.
Can I stop instructors publishing straight to learners?
Yes — the editorial review workflow routes drafts through an approver before publication.
Can I update a lesson used in many courses once?
Yes — link a reusable content block into any lesson; editing the block updates every lesson that links it.
Does it work with content we already have?
SCORM package playback needs compatibility validation. Live provider imports from LinkedIn Learning, Udemy Business and Coursera are not connected. Check the individual feature status below before planning a migration.

External course imports (LinkedIn Learning, Udemy, Coursera)
What it means: Live provider catalogues and licensed imports are not connected. Do not treat sample listings as provider-owned course access.
Why it matters: For administrators, this helps reuse learning materials and keep course delivery consistent. Instructors can create and update lessons without rebuilding everything. Learners can study content in formats that suit their needs. Partner organisations can share a consistent learning experience across organisations.
Current status: Planned — Not available as a working product feature yet. The current marketplace uses sample and AI-generated listings, not live provider catalogues or licensed imports.
Content marketplace access
What it means: Browse the sample catalogue and review draft-import requests; this is not a live licensed provider marketplace.
Why it matters: For administrators, this helps reuse learning materials and keep course delivery consistent. Instructors can create and update lessons without rebuilding everything. Learners can study content in formats that suit their needs. Partner organisations can share a consistent learning experience across organisations.
Current status: Beta — Functional but actively evolving. May have limitations. A sample catalogue and draft-import workflow exist; live provider catalogue access is not connected.
Media library
What it means: A central store for images, videos and files reused across your lessons.
Why it matters: For administrators, this helps reuse learning materials and keep course delivery consistent. Instructors can create and update lessons without rebuilding everything. Learners can study content in formats that suit their needs. Partner organisations can share a consistent learning experience across organisations.

Learners can study content in formats that suit their needs. Partner organisations can share a consistent learning experience across organisations.
Current status: Beta — Functional but actively evolving. May have limitations. Prepare and review narration scripts before generating lesson audio. Availability, voice allowances and provider setup vary; generated narration needs a human accuracy check.
Document-to-course import with source review
What it means: Turn supported documents into a draft course while reviewing source references, section boundaries and extracted visuals.
Why it matters: For administrators, this helps reuse learning materials and keep course delivery consistent. Instructors can create and update lessons without rebuilding everything.
